The damage of fast fashion
In the last few years the fast clothing industry has been growing and becoming more and more popular in many countries, so the demand is increasing and so is more and more business.
But you should ask yourself, how does this industry affect the planet?
The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry after the oil industry, so if this continues our planet will be affected, from climate change to droughts.
Climate change is not only the loss of water, but also the felling of trees, burning of fuels, hunting of species, among many other things done by humans in an unstoppable way.
Below, I will show you the reasons why this industry is affecting us a lot:
-It takes 700 gallons of water to make one T-shirt.
-Between 70 million and 100 million trees are cut down each year to make the semi-synthetic fibers from which most fast fashion clothing is made.
-Burning one kilogram of clothing generates 1.36 kilograms of carbon dioxide, more polluting than burning coal or natural gas.
-Half a million tons of synthetic microfibers are dumped into the sea each year.
The amount of pollution this is causing is unimaginable, not to mention the overexploitation of labor in vulnerable countries in order to continue selling millions of garments.
All this so that people in a couple of months discard the clothes and come back to buy more collections, that's how this industry works, so the discarded clothes end up in landfills or even in the sea.
If we do not stop consuming from these industries, the water, the trees, the animals and our entire planet in general will be affected, and when that moment arrives the human being will not be able to do anything to restore it.
We are going to change this damage we are doing to ourselves and to our future generations.
